The word "cartoon" is always paired with the definition of "friendly". So that a kind mockery does not turn into a prickly caricature, when drawing distorted features in a cartoon, you need to take into account the real proportions of the human face and body.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - a simple pencil;
  • - eraser;
  • - paints.

Instructions

Step 1

The ability to notice a characteristic feature of a person is the key to success when creating a cartoon. Observe your “victim” in everyday life and highlight the very trait that distinguishes it from everyone else. It can be a detail of appearance, character traits, manifested in facial expressions or movements.

Step 2

Depending on what feature you find, determine the composition of your drawing. If you were attracted by something in the face of a person, a portrait should appear in the picture, occupying the main part of the sheet. If specific properties have been found in the model's figure or movement, distribute the space to accommodate a full-length sketch.

Step 3

The essence of cartoon lies in exaggerating details. In order to deliberately incorrectly draw a part of a person's body, you need to know well the principles of its depiction in an undistorted form. Construct the face or the entire figure according to traditional proportions. It should be a minimalistic pencil sketch that only defines the location of the parts in the drawing and their volume.

Step 4

Start changing the part you want to laugh at. Make it larger and, if necessary, reduce the rest of the body to accentuate the comic effect.

Step 5

At this stage, you need to choose a cartoon style. You can make it realistic - then the main part of the body will not need distortion. If you are drawing in a "cartoon" style, you can deviate from the real proportions quite far.

Step 6

Finish the pencil sketch by removing the construction lines and detailing the comic element.

Step 7

Choose the material with which you will paint the cartoon. Most often, it is done in one color in order to focus on the joke and not be distracted by bright details. In this case, you need to apply shadows with a pencil, gel pen or ink on the pencil sketch. When working in a realistic manner, follow all guidelines for using watercolor or any other paint.
