It is necessary

  • - sandpaper;
  • - imitation of light gold (Potal) or rolled leaf;
  • - water-acrylic mordan IDEA ORO;
  • - bitumen IDEA ORO;
  • - brushes;
  • - scissors;
  • - thin masking tape;
  • - finishing acrylic varnish.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the wooden surface of the product for the application of the beading. To do this, sand it with fine-grained sandpaper to remove any burrs. If the wood has gouges or grooves, fill them with a special wood putty.

Step 2

After sanding, proceed to priming. Use an untreated wood stain for this. Choose a dark brown solution. Prime with a wide, flat brush in two coats, letting each dry well.

Step 3

After making sure that the primer is completely dry, proceed with the application of the adhesive. Take for this glue-mordan. This water-based substance dries quickly, allowing you to apply potal over it in just 15 minutes. Apply the adhesive in an even layer using a flat brush. Remove excess mordan with a piece of cotton cloth.

Step 4

When decorating a wooden base with stripes of gold, make sure that they are even. To achieve this result, apply masking tape to areas that cannot be gilded.

Step 5

Using scissors, carefully cut the leaflet into narrow ribbons attached to the tracing paper. Place them face down on a wooden surface, press down and smooth through the tracing paper with your fingers.

Step 6

After transferring the gilding to the base, carefully separate the tracing paper. Brush off those parts of the hoop that have not attached, performing superficial light movements with a brush.

Step 7

After the gilding has taken its place on the surface to be decorated, it is necessary to drown out the brightness of the metal. Use the aging technique for this. From the professional series of gilding, take liquid bitumen, put on gloves and apply the composition with a sponge to the gilded surface. At the same time, make multidirectional movements on the product.

Step 8

Cover the finished work with a coat of all-purpose acrylic varnish, let dry and then apply a second coat.
