It is customary to call a sweater knitted clothes that do not have buttons or zippers and are worn over the head. The main characteristic feature of this garment is a high collar that tightly wraps around the neck. It can be of different designs - from a simple stand to a beautifully unfolding multi-layer part. Try knitting the neck of a classic sweater. It is made on knitting needles with a simple elastic band, after which it is folded in half. Such a product will be an excellent protection from bad weather.

It is necessary

  • - two straight knitting needles;
  • - auxiliary spoke;
  • - circular knitting needles;
  • - pin;
  • - two balls of the same yarn;
  • - a needle for connecting seams.

Instructions

Step 1

Correct the pattern of the neck of the sweater and check the knitting density in order to know the required number of loops for the back and front of the future collar.

Step 2

Start knitting a sweater from the back. Having made the main part of the detail, follow the armholes of the sleeves and the bevels of the shoulders. After that, count the center loops for the notch line and remove them on a secondary knitting needle or pin.

Step 3

Tie the front of the garment up to the beginning of the neckline. For example, for a size 46 sweater, knit it about 50 cm high from the bottom hem. Then you should remove a dozen central loops on a pin, but you will finish the left and right sides of the work separately - from different balls.

Step 4

Begin to perform first the part of the model from which the working thread is stretched. Your task is to make a cut line approximately 4 cm deep. To do this, you need to smoothly round the neck, closing the loops in the front rows. Do this in the following sequence: for the first time, cut the canvas by three loops at once; then - two; close one loop two times.

Step 5

Close the shoulder loops, then knit the left side of the sweater using a different ball of yarn. Round the cut line in the pattern, but mirrored.

Step 6

Perform the collar of the sweater after assembling all the finished parts of the product. Join the front and back with a knitted seam, then sew on the sleeves.

Step 7

String the open (pinned) stitches onto the circular needles and knit according to the main pattern of the garment. The rest of the loops must be taken from the working thread (according to the size of the future collar).

Step 8

Make a neat 1x1 elastic (one front and one purl), or 2x2 (two front and two purl). It should be about 20 cm high - 10 cm for each collar layer. When finished, close the loops and fold the elastic in half with the top edge out. Close the last row of the collar of the sweater, pulling loosely on the loops. If you pull them too tight, the sweater just won't fit over your head. Make sure the elastic is flexible enough everywhere.
