Step 1
Making mittens is a task that even a novice needlewoman can overcome. The main thing in the work is the perseverance and desire of the craftswoman to create her own unique product. And of course, you will need the ability to work on five knitting needles and knowledge of the basic loops - front, purl and yarn. The hardest part of making mittens is knitting your thumb. Although, if you use the following tips, then make sure that it is not difficult at all.
Step 2
Some craftswomen, before knitting a thumb, first remove several loops from the working knitting needle, and then pick up the required number of loops in the usual way. Then they knit in a circle with facial loops and close the finger when it reaches the desired length. But in this case, the finger can be uncomfortable and will pull.
Step 3
The second knitting option is preferable, but it will also need yarn loops. To use this method, knit part of the mittens up to the finger, as suggested by knitting. Start with the rubber band first. You can knit it with a pattern consisting of two front and two back stitches, or use a one-to-one pattern (front - back). The convenience of knitting in a circle (this is the method used on five knitting needles) is that in this case, each row of the pattern is knitted in the same way.
Step 4
After the elastic reaches the desired length, move to the palm of your hand. Knit ten to fifteen rows. If you are using a pattern on the back, knit according to the pattern. Place the mitten on your hand. You need to knit the garment to the base of your thumb.
Step 5
Then on the first knitting needle (counting from the beginning of the picture), knit half of the loops with the front ones. Then make a yarn over. And knit further with the facial ones. Perform the second row with the front ones. Third row: knit half the loops again, then yarn over, knit one loop, and yarn over again. Together with the crochets, you should have three loops of the future finger. Knit the fourth row with the front ones. Fifth - according to the scheme: half of the loops with the front, yarn, three front, yarn, front. Thus, each odd row will add two loops, which in the future will be the thumb of the mittens.
Step 6
When you knit the required number of loops (depending on the size of the product, it can be from 9 to 25), collect the future finger on a pin or thread and continue knitting.
Step 7
Once you've finished your mitten, tie your finger. Distribute the collected loops on three knitting needles and knit in a circle until the length reaches the base of the nail. Now you need to close your finger. To do this, knit the last two loops on each knitting needle into one. As a result, you should have one loop on the needles. Tie them together. And your finger is ready. It remains only to fill the "tail".
