A patch (from the English patch - a patch) is a special program that is designed to fix some errors in a computer game already released on the market. There are official patches created by manufacturers and amateur patches developed by fans of the game.
Instructions
Step 1
Patches for most computer games can be found freely available on the Internet. Official patches are usually available for download on the developer's website. Amateur "patches" are offered on various sites and forums dedicated to a particular game.
Step 2
Before downloading the patch, check out its technical specifications and the list of changes that it introduces to the game. Read user reviews of this program. Please note that some patches may not match your version of the game and therefore will not work with it. There are special "patches" that can improve your version of the game to the required level.

After downloading, be sure to check the hobby patch for viruses. If there is a ReadMe file in the archive with the "patch", study it carefully. It may contain detailed instructions for installing the program and a complete list of changes made to the game.

Back up your game and save it to a different partition on your hard drive. You will need it if the patched (updated) version of the program does not suit you in any way, and you decide to return to the old version.
Step 5
Double-click the left mouse button to run the patch file. Unpack the patch to the game folder. To do this, in the dialog box that opens, select the Games, Program Files folder, find the directory with the name of the game. Then open the folder whose files you want to replace. Typically, this information is contained in the description of the patch on the site where it is offered for download, or in the ReadMe document. Click OK and wait for the patch installation to complete.
Step 6
Start the game. Make sure all the changes you made are working successfully. If after installing the patch, the game stops launching, use the backup copy to remove the changes made to the program.
