The surge of interest in magic always occurs in borderline eras. After all, magic itself is an opportunity to cross the border and gain new knowledge. From this point of view, any phenomenon that goes beyond the limits of human ideas in a given era can be called magic.
Instructions
Step 1
The line that can be overcome with the help of magic is the line between the world of the living and the world of the dead, according to primitive ideas. However, even in our time there is a lot of evidence of the existence of various phenomena that owe their origin to the other world and cannot be rationally explained. But even if you evaluate the world only from a narrowly materialistic point of view, never engage in magical rituals (even in jest). Remember at least the first law of thermodynamics, according to which any energy can be converted, but cannot be lost. And the fact that the human body is the focus of energy - in any sense of the word - is beyond doubt.
Step 2
Check out the works of renowned scholars who have dealt with the origin and structure of magical rituals (for example, M. Eliade). It will be nice if you read the works of B. Rybakov and K. Levi-Strauss and learn how primitive man gradually separated himself from nature and tried to fill in the gaps in his, already purely human, perception of the world with the help of various rituals. B. Rybakov based his theory on archaeological data, K. Levi-Strauss - on the study of the rituals of the now existing primitive tribes.
Step 3
Any magic has a positive effect only in those conditions that contributed to the emergence of rituals. Therefore, it makes sense to carry out rituals only by completely abandoning modern civilization. In this regard, the ritual of "blood fraternization", which was initially carried out on the battlefield after the end of the battle and made sense to end the feuds between the two clans, will look very dubious, if not dangerous. Another issue is that blood fraternization can also be viewed as an echo of human sacrifice.
Step 4
Distinguish between white and black magic, depending on whether the magic rite is performed in accordance with the choice of the person on whom it is performed, or against his will. And the general structure of the ritual (and the objects and substances used in the process of witchcraft) is the same.
Step 5
When performing a magic ritual, various symbolic combinations are used - numerical, letter, etc. In addition, any ritual is inextricably linked not only with the use of objects and substances, but also with spells and sacred words (understandable only to initiates). Without noticing that, many of us recite them several times a day, bringing to life the dark forces (dark because the ceremony takes place in the wrong conditions and without understanding its meaning). Sacred words for the Slavs were words that were once called "unprintable".
