The chord (from the Latin accord - I agree) is a harmonious sounding consonance, consisting of at least three different-pitch tones. This concept includes a lot of details that need to be studied by people who are professionally involved in music. Beginners are most often interested in the question of how to learn how to play chords on various instruments.
Instructions
Step 1
Guitar chords are formed by clamping multiple strings at certain frets with the left-hand fingers for right-handers and right-handers for left-handers. Correct placement of the fingers is very important in this case, since it allows you to quickly and conveniently rearrange the chords, play the melody without pauses and not muffle the strings. As a rule, the index finger on most chords is placed on the fret closest to the headstock for a given combination, however, in some cases, when they need to grip the fifth or sixth string, it can change its position. The middle, ring and little fingers are closer to the soundboard, and the large finger is on the back of the neck.
Step 2
Before learning to play chords, it is necessary to do exercises for the development of the fingers of the left hand. For example, you can hold the sixth string with your index finger at the first fret, pluck it, then with the middle one at the second, while releasing your index finger, your ring finger at the third fret, and your pinky at the fourth. Repeat the exercise on all strings.
Step 3
Once you can easily navigate between the frets on the same string, make the exercise harder. Place your index finger on the sixth string at the first fret, with your middle finger on the fifth string on the second, with your ring finger on the fourth string at the third fret, and with your little finger pinch the third string at the fourth. Repeat the exercise starting from the first string.
Step 4
After that, start alternating the direction of the game: hold four frets, moving from the sixth down, and then from the second up, then from the fifth down again and from the first up.
Step 5
Once your fingers have developed enough to feel the frets and strings without looking at the fretboard, start learning chords.
Step 6
You can do it in two ways. Or take the chord chart and start cramming them all - then your knowledge will be complete, and after a lot of practice you can easily play compositions of varying difficulty. Or do it differently and choose a simple song that you like, the melody of which is 3-4 chords, and learn to play it. Then take another song that has new chords and learn it too, and so on. Thus, you can learn the most popular chords for amateur playing, because, as a rule, you do not need so many of them, so it is not at all necessary to cram full tables. For the performance of most popular songs, it is important to know how the chords C, D, E, F, G, A, H (B) are played (written in accordance with the notes), their variants in minor, as well as D7, E7, E5, G7, A7, H7 and they are in minor key. It’s also worth understanding the concepts of sharp and flat and understanding how to play these semitones on your guitar. Spend as much time as possible, make sure they are regular, and then you will learn to rearrange the chords very quickly.
