The bench is an indispensable part of the cityscape. If you want to draw a scene from city life or, say, a corner of a park, then you will also need to depict a beautiful bench on which grandfather is resting with a newspaper or lovers are whispering. Try to position yourself so that the bench is seen slightly at an angle. A bench standing upright can be quite problematic to highlight the main details, and it can turn out to look like a chest or something like that, even if you are drawing a beautiful wrought or carved bench in an old park.

Instructions
Step 1
If you decide to portray just a bench, you can draw it directly. Start painting from above. Draw a long, straight horizontal line. Draw the exact same line just below and connect the edges of both lines with short segments. This will be the seat.
Step 2
Draw a leg. Step back a little from the left end of the bottom line and draw a perpendicular down to the desired height. Draw a line parallel to it and connect the lower ends of the lines. Draw the second leg in the same way. Make sure they are symmetrical.
Step 3
In order to draw a more complex bench with a back, step back a little from the bottom edge of the sheet, draw a line parallel to the underside of the sheet, divide it in half and put a dot. Draw a center line up from it. The center of one of the bench legs will be located on the centerline.
Step 4
The sketch of the side of the bench most closely resembles a chair. With two lines parallel to the side of the sheet, sketch out the outlines of the back of the chair. Draw the top of the seat perpendicular to the backrest. To convey its thickness, draw a line just below, parallel to the top of the seat. Draw a perpendicular downward parallel to the already drawn middle of the leg. Draw the second perpendicular symmetrically on the other side of this line.
Step 5
From the top of the centerline at an angle of about 45 ° (you don't need a protractor - just roughly divide the right angle in half) draw a line towards the outside of the sheet. Draw lines parallel to it from the point of intersection of the back of the "chair" and its seat and from both points of the back of the chair. Set aside the length of the bench on all lines and connect the points with segments.
Step 6
Draw legs to the far end of the bench. They run strictly vertically, while the leg that is located on the side of the seat is fully visible. But it will be shorter and thinner than the leg that is closer to the viewer. In order to more accurately observe the proportions, draw auxiliary lines, parallel lines of connection between the back and the seat, from both legs of the "chair". Finish both legs on these lines.
Step 7
Having prepared the contours of the bench, start drawing it. The back can be bent by drawing a concave line instead of a straight line of the back of the "chair". The arc "looks" towards the seat. The second line of the back can also be drawn as an arc parallel to the first, but you can also give it a greater curvature. The seat can be left straight, or its corners can be rounded.
Step 8
The wooden bench consists of individual planks. Draw them parallel to the line connecting the back and seat. The number of planks can be arbitrary.
Step 9
Outline the bench with a softer pencil. Remove excess lines. Trace the slats of the back and seat with a medium pencil.
