Gloria Pires is a Brazilian actress known far beyond the borders of her home country. In Russia, many people know her for her role in the television series "Cruel Angel".
Biography and career
Gloria Maria Claudia Pires de Moraes was born in 1963 in Rio de Janeiro. She became the first daughter in a family directly related to cinema: Antonio Carlus Pires, her father, was a successful Brazilian actor, and her mother, Elsa, was a producer. Gloria's younger sister Linda became a doctor.
The girl began her acting career in early childhood, when she was only 5 years old. The series "Little Orphan", in which she appeared as a minor character, was not renewed even for a second season and did not receive the attention of the public and critics. But for the girl, even this work turned out to be useful, because they began to take her to many local TV shows. In the project "Kabokla" in 1979, she played her first major role. After 9 years, she became part of the TV series "Everything is Permitted", which is very popular in Brazil to this day.
In 1993, the actress for a long time and stubbornly refused the role in the TV series "The Secret of the Tropicana", but the director did not give up trying to persuade Gloria Pires. She insisted that, with a newborn baby in her arms, she did not want to devote her strength to such a difficult project that she just wanted to relax and do household chores. But the director did not want to take on the main role (even the two main roles, since Pires played the twins), and Gloria eventually gave up. The series gained incredible popularity, and the actress began to earn excellent royalties. The little daughter was on the set next to her mother almost all the time. For this role, she was awarded the title of the best actress in her country. In 1997, the actress begins work in "Cruel Angel", which made her even more popular and in demand. The black-eyed brunette has won the hearts of millions of viewers, including Russian ones.
In a big movie, the actress is removed quite rarely, giving preference to Brazilian TV shows. Her most successful film role outside of Brazil went to her in 2013 in Rare Flowers.
Personal life
The first husband of the actress was the Brazilian performer Fabio the Younger. From this marriage, Gloria Pires has her first daughter, Cleo, who later became a successful actress, like her mother. After 4 years of marriage, the couple broke up, and Fabio after this breakup had 5 more marriages.
The second husband was also a musician, Brazilian composer Orlando Morais. Gloria Pires gave birth to 3 more children from Morais: two daughters and a son. Unfortunately, in the late 90s, an unpleasant incident happened to Gloria's family: someone wrote the news in the media that the actress's husband was treating Cleo's wife's first daughter unworthily. Rumors quickly spread throughout newspapers, magazines and broadcasts, even despite the couple's categorical denial of this news. Cleo herself claimed to have always loved Orlando like a father. The family moved to the United States, where Morais was able to calmly continue his career. Due to a contract with a Brazilian film studio, Pires had to leave his family more than once and go to shoot in Brazil.
