The seven-measure rule is helpful for more than just sewing and sewing. It is necessary to accurately calculate the number of loops before starting knitting so that the product does not have to be tied. It is reasonable to make a complete calculation of the entire product. If in the product separate areas will be connected by different patterns, it is necessary to make a calculation for each knitting pattern.
It is necessary
Yarn, set of five straight knitting needles, knitting needles
Instructions
Step 1
Before starting knitting, take the necessary measurements. Measure your shin where you want to tie the sock. Record the measurement result - S cm. This is the size the elastic of the finished sock should have in an unstretched state.
Step 2
Measure the largest circumference of your foot along the instep, the bones, and across the heel. Up to this size, the knitted fabric of the finished sock should be stretched so that the sock does not have to be put on with difficulty. Record the measurement result - M see.
Step 3
Tie samples of all the patterns and elastic bands you have chosen for the future product. If the knitted pattern seems too tight to you, take the needles one larger. If the sample is too loose, replace the knitting needles with thinner ones. Steam bound samples with an iron through a damp cloth. Try to keep the sample rectangular.
Step 4
Measure the width of the finished sample. The number of sample loops = N cmx = S cmx - the number of loops for the beginning of knitting N cm - the width of the knitted sample S cm - the shin girth in centimeters, measured in paragraph 1
Step 5
To determine the number of loops for the first row of socks, divide the shin girth S cm by the width of the knitted sample N cm and multiply the resulting number by the number of sample loops. Adjust the resulting number so that the number of loops is divisible by four.
Step 6
Cast on the resulting number of loops on the needles. To prevent the edge of the product from being pulled together, fold the working thread in half to set the first row. Distribute the stitches over four needles and knit to the beginning of the heel.
Step 7
When choosing a pattern from several colored threads, you will have to give up circular knitting. In this case, the calculated number of loops must be increased by two edge loops. The seam is best done on the inside of the sock. If you want to knit long socks, then when knitting elastic, reduce the number of loops by 1-2 loops on each knitting needle.
Step 8
Before tying the heel, check if the elastic can be stretched to size M cm (item 2). Tie a heel with two knitting needles. Knit the heel in any convenient and appropriate way for the chosen pattern.
Step 9
Type on the edges of the resulting heel of the loop. There should be 2-4 more loops on the needles than before knitting the heel. If you knit on a leg with a high instep, then there should be 4-6 additional loops.
Step 10
Continue knitting on four knitting needles until you start knitting the toe. Knit the toe, evenly decreasing the loops. Socks can be knitted in different ways, but always correctly calculating the loops will ensure that the desired size of the finished product is obtained.
