One of the most important elements for spearfishing is a wetsuit. Good equipment allows the diver to be under water for a long time and enjoy hunting. For the hunter to be comfortable, the wetsuit must be made of quality materials and matched exactly to the size. Choosing the right equipment increases the chances of success in hunting and gives you the opportunity to enjoy being underwater.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide for what purposes and in what area the wetsuit will be used. It is important to know what the typical air and water temperatures are in these areas. For spearfishing, so-called wet suits are most often used. Water has the ability to penetrate them through a leaky zipper. From the heat radiated from the body, the water heats up quickly and creates a comfortable environment for the swimmer. Knowing the conditions in which the suit will be applied, you can choose a product from the most suitable material.
Step 2
When choosing between a "wet" or a "dry" wetsuit, keep in mind that the first option is significantly cheaper. There are intermediate versions of suits, the so-called semi-dry suits. The clasp in them is airtight, but the hands and feet are open.
Step 3
Pay attention to the material from which the wetsuit is made. The most popular among hunters are neoprene suits. The thickness of the material should be selected taking into account the conditions of use of the wetsuit. Remember that no one will say for sure what temperature this suit is intended for. Much will depend on how actively you move during spearfishing, as well as on the expected dive depth.
Step 4
Check with your retailer if the wetsuit you like has a special plush lining. It makes putting on the suit much easier, and the lining has excellent thermal insulation properties. A good suit, provided with a lining, is exactly the same as the structure of the human body.
Step 5
Also pay attention to the presence or absence of knee pads in the suit. They are used in most high-quality spearfishing wetsuits. Knee pads protect the suit from tearing if you have to hunt in hard-to-reach places, where contact with hard ground or underwater snags is possible.
Step 6
Be sure to try on a wetsuit for yourself. Make sure it fits snugly around your body, but doesn't squeeze too much. Try using a zipper. If you need a second hand to do this, it is best to take a wetsuit one size larger. If the zipper is too easy to fasten, then you will need a smaller suit. Some models can be tailored to fit a specific figure. Don't be fooled by the additional fitting fees, as this will ensure your diving experience is as comfortable as possible.
