Pike is caught almost all year round, with the exception of deep winter, when the frost binds water bodies with thick ice. But on the other hand, in the spring, in March-April, as soon as the first sections of open water appear, the pike becomes more active and starts spinning. But such fishing is dangerous, because the ice is already thin in places and can break off. And if you use a rubber inflatable boat, the sharp edges of the ice can cut it, which is also life-threatening. Therefore, if it is not possible to catch pike from the shore, it is better to wait until the ice has completely melted.
The next zhor in a pike begins a week or two after spawning. It is difficult to indicate the exact dates of this period, since they can vary greatly in different regions. After spawning, the pike rests and does not take anything, but then it grabs everything. This is the time when the pike is caught with any bait and at the same time its zhory continues throughout the day. But it is worth noting that it is still better to fish on cloudy, but warm days and near spawning grounds.
Then a large pike is caught poorly, it is rarely possible to pull out a good specimen, usually small grasses grab the bait, up to 1 kg of weight. Throughout the summer, periods of active biting alternate with days of complete calm. It is difficult to guess at what time the pike will be caught, but it has been noticed that before a thunderstorm, already at the first peals of thunder, it is more active. And also in the evening and in the morning.
But on the other hand, in the fall, a holiday begins for the fisherman - the pike fattens, it accumulates nutrients for the winter and becomes very active. She is caught on spinning and float rods with live bait. The vents placed at night near the bushes on the shore also work well. During this period, you can fish for pike and mugs. Of the baits, it is still better to use baits that are as similar to a real fish as possible than just metal spinners. The pike is caught before the cold snap, when the fish goes to the depths.
In winter, you can also fish until January inclusive. To do this, use winter pike vents. Still, spring fishing is the best.
