Currently, steam locomotives are not used in organizing cargo transportation, so you can see how they look by finding a locomotive installed as a monument, or in mechanical engineering textbooks.

Instructions

Step 1

Draw a pencil sketch. The locomotive body consists of three parts. Draw the front part in the form of a lying cylinder, the height of the cylinder should be three to four times the diameter of the base. Draw the second part in the form of a rectangle with a vertical side slightly larger than the horizontal one. This is the driver's cab. The back of the locomotive looks like a long rectangle, its length is two to three times its height. This is the coal compartment. All parts are connected by welding, the front cylinder is located slightly higher. Draw four pairs of wheels below it - the first pair is less than the next three. Four more pairs of wheels are located under the coal compartment. There is no need to draw wheels under the driver's cab.

Step 2

Draw small details on the body of the locomotive. Start with the cylindrical part. It has a pipe, a safety valve, behind it a third towering container is a sandpiper, a whistle located next to the driver's cabin. There is a hitch and headlights at the front at the bottom, there is a hatch at the base of the cylinder, draw hinges and a handle on it. Draw metal handrails along this entire part. Draw a door and windows on the booth behind the cylindrical part. The last part of the locomotive usually contains a container with coal. Draw metal sticks that connect the wheels and make them move away from the front pair of wheels. These sticks are called companions. The entire body of the locomotive is covered with metal rivets and has traces of welding, reflect this in the picture. Also, do not forget that the locomotive will not run without rails.

Step 3

Color in the drawing. Most often, steam locomotives are painted black, only some parts, for example, the wheels and the front part, are red. You can also use gray and dark green. On the driver's cab, paint the number of the locomotive with white paint.
