Several types of paints are used for fabric drawings. One of the most common ones is acrylic. They are composed of three components: water, dye and acrylic emulsion. Acrylic paints have a bright color, are resistant to mechanical, temperature and other influences, so fabrics with an acrylic pattern can be washed.
Instructions
Step 1
Sketch the drawing on paper in the shape of the future life-size drawing. Think over all the colors and shades you need.
Step 2
Choose a method of application and type of paint. For applying acrylic through a stencil, aerosol paint in cans is suitable, and for brush strokes, based on the principle of oil paint, you will need acrylic in tubes and cans. The paint in tubes and cans is very thick and requires additional thinner.
Step 3
Spread the fabric on a flat, clean surface, preferably newspaper or other cloth, in a dry, well-ventilated area. Draw the outline of the drawing with a pencil. Even if you paint through a stencil, it can shift and distort the shape of the intended drawing.
Step 4
Apply the first coat of paint. Let it dry. To add intensity to the color, you can go through some areas two or three times, dry after each layer. Thin layers dry faster than thick layers.
Step 5
Rinse your brushes after each coat to prevent the dye from turning hair into a worthless lump. After the last layer has dried, iron the fabric with a set iron.
