Step 1
To paint a picture depicting a dolphin in the sea, it is best to use artistic gouache - working with these paints does not require special skills and even children and beginners can do it. In addition, gouache allows you to get a rich palette of shades by simple mixing. To make it easier to work, you must first make a sketch on a sheet with a simple pencil. You can come up with a plot yourself or copy it from a photo or reproduction you like.
Step 2
Sketch your painting in pencil. To do this, first of all, outline the horizon line - in your case, in this place the sea surface will merge with the sky. Then draw the dolphin itself. Its size and posture depend only on your wishes. The easiest way is to depict him jumping out of the water. In this case, his body is almost a drop-shaped curved shape (remember the image of the famous symbol "Yin and Yang"). If you wish, you can add other elements of the seascape to the picture: ships, islands in the distance, seagulls, etc.
Step 3
After the sketch is ready, you can proceed directly to painting. The complexity of seascapes is that the whole picture is done in blue tones. So that the sea does not visually merge with the sky, you will need to carefully consider the shading palette. Remember that the intensity of the color when painting the sky goes from top to bottom (the further to the horizon, the lighter). To get different shades, mix blue, purple and cyan paint with white on a special palette until you get the desired colors.
Step 4
Having painted over the surface of the sea and sky, you can proceed to writing the figure of a dolphin. To do this, use gray or black colors (in the latter case, the figure may turn out to be flat). After painting over the body of the animal, use a thin brush and a darker shade of paint to give it volume. To do this, darken the areas opposite to the places where the imaginary light falls.
