If you want to learn how to draw people, but are afraid to immediately start sketching from life, practice on more static models. For example, you can draw a tin soldier. True, you will have to understand not only the structure of the body, but also the image of the material - you need to be able to convey the brilliance of the statuette covered with paint.

Instructions
Step 1
Divide the vertically located sheet in half with a vertical axis. Then slide it to the left half a centimeter. Along this line, you can check how symmetrical the right and left parts of the picture are.
Step 2
Using short horizontal strokes, divide the line into five equal parts. The first segment from above will be occupied by the soldier's hat, and one and a half segment from the bottom - by his boots. Erase the rest of the marks.
Step 3
From the bottom edge of the top segment, set aside a distance equal to half the height of the cap - this space in the figure will occupy the face. Divide the rest of the vertical axis in half - at this level is the edge of the soldier's tunic.
Step 4
Based on this sketchy sketch, sketch out the shape of the soldier's torso and head. At first, they can be drawn as simple shapes. Draw the hat, torso, legs as rectangles, the face - half an oval. Add to the sketch the arms bent at the elbows: the left arm should reach the level of the waist, draw the elbow with the right a little higher. After that, you can make the outlines of all parts of the sketch more accurate, referring to a photograph or a real figurine of a tin soldier.
Step 5
Color the drawing with gouache or acrylic paints. Use a thin, stiff brush for this to make your strokes more precise. The figurine will look three-dimensional if you do not limit yourself to uniform fills, but draw shadows and highlights.
Step 6
Create bright highlights by using the color of the unpainted white paper. Such accents should be left in the form of lines in the center of the boots, guns, along the sweet on the sleeves. Muted with a thin layer of translucent paint, highlights can be made on the soldier's cap, on the chin and along the nose. As you paint the detail around the highlight, increase the color saturation as you move away from the white spot.
Step 7
The white parts of the Tin Soldier's costume do not need to be painted. But be sure to apply shadows on them. To do this, mix shades of gray, blue and sepia. Place the strokes on the inside of the left leg, the outside of the right, on the right side and a thin strip on the shoulders of the figure.
