The brave soldier Schweik, Ivan Chonkin, just a soldier of the Russian army Ivan - there are many such characters in literature. It is possible that at some point even a person who is not very confident in his artistic abilities will have to draw illustrations for them. First of all, you need to come up with an image of a soldier.
Consider the picture
In principle, even a child can draw a soldier. To do this, it is enough to know the sequence of work. For a start, it's best to look at a few pictures of soldiers. Tin or plastic soldiers are also suitable as nature. In the first case, it is better to take a figure standing upright.
Depiction of a human figure
If your soldier will stand upright, lay the sheet upright. To start drawing it in stages, draw a vertical line in the middle. Mark the ends with serifs. Divide the line into 7 parts. The upper part is the head, the remaining 6 are the neck, torso, legs. For convenience, the parts can be numbered, 1 - lower, 7 - upper. From the notch separating the 6 and 7 parts, set aside a short segment down. It is designed for the neck. Draw a horizontal line across this new mark. Set aside shoulder width on it. Keep in mind that the man's shoulders should be wide enough. They are wider than the waist or hips. Draw a line for your waist. It is in the middle of segment number 4. The hip line will be at the border of 3 and 4 segments. Mark the width of your waist and hips on these lines. Connect the extreme points of all three horizontal lines.
The proportions of literary characters can be very different from the average. For example, Schweik is much fatter than any other soldier.
Arms and legs
An adult male has rather long legs. Mark where the knees will be - about the middle of section 2. Draw the legs. The calf ankles extend slightly towards the knee. From the knee line, the legs widen significantly to the end points of the thigh line. If the soldier stands at attention, the feet look like rectangles. They are slightly wider than the ankles. Draw the arms. If they are omitted, then their length is approximately to the middle of the thigh.

Head
Draw the head. Its shape is close to oval, unless, of course, you are drawing a caricature. Draw a face, it can be schematic - eyes, eyebrows, nose and mouth. You can draw folds under the nose and cheekbones.
Clothes and weapons
The soldier is wearing a military uniform. The tunic sits somewhat freely, that is, its contours go beyond the contours of the body, but the belt strictly coincides with the waistline. The tunic is fastened with buttons. Place them strictly along the midline. The soldier's trousers are wide enough at the hips. Their contours also go beyond the lines of the legs. The upper parts of the boots are strictly under the knees, their width exactly matches the thickness of the legs. Draw the folds of the clothes. On a tunic, they go up and down from the belt at a certain angle. The folds on the pants extend upward from the knee line, also at an angle. The soldier has a garrison cap on his head, it can be drawn in the form of a triangle. Behind the right shoulder is a gun, it's just a wide strip. A machine gun can also be given to a soldier. The drawing is ready. If desired, you can paint it with colored pencils.
