In knitting, there are a lot of different techniques that allow you to knit a variety of products - openwork fabrics, patterned napkins, thick sweaters, as well as cuffs and pockets.
Instructions
Step 1
For knitting pockets, you will need the double elastic band technology, which is two canvases connected with a front satin stitch and having a hollow pocket inside. Both canvases are interconnected by typesetting loops. Any knitter can learn to knit a double elastic band and close it.
Step 2
First, calculate the number of loops from the control sample and multiply the resulting number by two. For example, if a 10 cm blanket holds 20 stitches, then in order to knit a double elastic of the same size, you will need to cast 40 stitches. Use fine knitting needles to create a neat double elastic.
Step 3
Knit the first row in the following way: knit one front loop, then remove one loop and place the working thread in front of the canvas. Knit the described combination of loops in sequence until you reach the end of the row.
Step 4
Tie all other rows in the same way as the first, knitting with the front stitch the loop removed in the previous row. Remove the knitted loop, place the thread in front of the loop and continue to do the same steps until the very end. In some products, a double elastic is knitted so that its edge is closed, and the elastic itself becomes one-piece - for example, this is how cuffs and straps are knitted.
Step 5
In order to close the elastic, cast with an auxiliary thread half of the number of loops that you typed for knitting a double elastic, and then begin to knit with the main thread alternating the front loop and crochet.
Step 6
Repeat this alternation until you reach the end of the first row. In the second row, knit the yarn over with the front stitch, remove the knitted front loop, placing the thread in front of the loop, and then repeat these steps to the end of the row.
Step 7
In the third and further rows, knit a double elastic band according to the technique described above, and after a few centimeters, dissolve the typesetting edge from the auxiliary thread. Thus, you get an even closed edge of the product.
