A beautiful and comfortable nightgown is an essential attribute in the wardrobe of every self-respecting woman. The modern clothing market cannot always offer something truly original and at the same time inexpensive. Show off your personality, sew the nightgown yourself!

It is necessary

  • - material;
  • - centimeter;
  • - pattern;
  • - scissors;
  • - threads;
  • - a needle;
  • - sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

First, select the material from which the nightgown will be sewn. The best option in this case would be cotton fabric, soft and not very dense. To create a shirt, buy 1.5 meters of material and thread to match.

Step 2

To make the future shirt fully match your size, make a pattern. To do this, find thick polyethylene or paper (wallpaper left over from the last repair is quite suitable). Take a marker or ballpoint pen of any color and draw the brisket: two rectangular stripes. The length of each of these strips should be equal to the half of your chest (plus add 2-3 cm on the seams). In order to calculate the half-girth, take a centimeter and measure the circumference of your chest. Divide the obtained data, for example, 85 cm in half. It will turn out to be 42.5 cm. This value will be the half-girth of the chest.

Step 3

The stripes should be approximately 12.5 cm high. Cut out the pattern. Place it gently on the fabric and trace along the contour with a soft graphite pencil or chalk so that after washing there are no marks on the garment. Fold each piece along the line with the right side of the fabric inward. "Bait" every detail along the edges, turn it out "there" and see if the future product matches the pattern, whether the seams are in place and, if everything is fine, sew the pieces of fabric together with a major seam.

Step 4

Take a new piece of paper / polyethylene and draw a large rectangle on it. Its width should be about 1.5 times the width of the chest, and the height should be 75 cm (you can increase or decrease it at your discretion, for which you will need to measure the distance from the chest to the hem of the nightgown and fix the measurements at the level where the hem should end).

Step 5

Trace the contours of the pattern on the material. Gather the top edge of this section slightly into two seams (one with larger stitches, the other with smaller stitches). Holding the threads from two edges, bring the width of the central part of the nightgown to the width of the chest, and then join the seams between the chest and the central part.

Step 6

If you are sewing a shirt with shoulder straps, you will need to cut a rectangular strip of fabric 2-3 cm wide and about 45 cm long. Fold the resulting oblong section right side inward and sew. Then add the straps and try on the shirt. Try to find the optimal length for the straps, then cut off the extra centimeters and sew these straps to the shirt "clean".
