After the candle has burned out to the end, pieces of wax remain from it, which are usually thrown away as unnecessary. To experiment, and at the same time to save money, "waste" can be reused by creating a new candle out of it.
It is necessary
- - wax;
- - pots;
- - candle mold.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the right shape for your candle. It is better to take a container for this, which you will not mind throwing away after use. Tin cans and thick-walled plastic cosmetic bottles will do.
Step 2
Wash and dry the walls and bottom of the mold thoroughly. Then brush them with dish soap to help remove the candle after the wax has cooled.
Step 3
In the center of the bottom of the can, use an awl to make a hole for attaching the wick. Twist it from 2-3 cotton threads, thread it through the hole and tie it with a knot. Tie a pencil or piece of cardboard to the upper end of the wick, which will lie on the jar. The wick should be perfectly aligned between the bottom and top of the candle mold.
Step 4
Heat pieces of new wax or fragments of old wax candles in a water bath. Bring the material to a liquid state, then remove from the stove and let stand for five minutes.
Step 5
Gently pour the liquid wax into the mold, making sure to fill the entire volume at a time. The wax will harden from the edges towards the center, with a little “settling” in the area around the wick. Pour a new portion into the groove that appears. While the candle is warm, pierce it with a thin needle so that no voids form inside the mass.
Step 6
Depending on the size, the candle will be ready for use in about 24 hours. There is no need to accelerate the cooling process - the wax can crack from temperature extremes.
Step 7
To make a candle colored, add special candle dyes to several containers of wax. Pour them into the mold one by one: wait until the first layer hardens, but does not cool, then add the second.
Step 8
You can add vertical colored layers by dipping a narrow candle one by one in a container with multi-colored wax, holding the wick. Before each new layer, the old one is fixed by immersion in a bowl of cold water.
