Stylized paintings are back in fashion today. Masters copy the style of painting of past years, the manner of conveying color and volume, the inherent compositional structure and, of course, the plot. Thus, urbanists write about the formation of the industrial era, and village artists (remember, there was such a trend) - the way and regularity of rural life in tsarist Russia. And where in the village without bast shoes.
Instructions
Step 1
Regardless of whether you intend to create a plot canvas or will paint a still life, sandals, like other individual elements, will need to be drawn with a sketch. Start with a pencil sketch.
Step 2
Set the diagonal and mark the proportions of the bast shoes. In the center of the sheet, use light strokes to mark two aligned ovals with an offset to the lower left corner.
Step 3
Divide the length of the ovals into two parts (you can mentally, but it is better to put strokes-notes): ¾ of the total length is the nose of the shoe, ¼ is the back.
Step 4
Divide the width of the ovals into two equal parts, the lower one of which will later become the sole and the wall of the bast shoes, and the upper one - the bow braid and the notch for the foot.
Step 5
Start drawing bast shoes from the oval closest to you (it should be slightly larger than the one behind it). The easiest way is to immediately start with the weaving characteristic of bast shoes: just draw a series of oblique parallel lines with a step of about 2-3 cm (if you are working on an A4 sheet), and then more lines at about the same angle, but in the opposite direction. Artists call this technique "false start", it is used so that the beginner immediately gets an idea of what he is drawing, because the image and shape of the bast shoes will immediately "lie" on the sheet, prompting what needs to be done next.
Step 6
Start drawing the weave from the heel, remember to bend the lines as you go to the nose, otherwise you will deprive the shoe of volume.
Step 7
You don't have to draw the inner part of the bast shoe, just shade it. Proceed to the second. However, it will no longer be possible to draw weaving from the heel, because, as planned, the front bast shoe slightly covers the rear one. Draw straight from the nose, drawing lines to the wall of the shoe.
Step 8
Please note that bast shoes are not a work of furrier's art, but rough shoes made of wood bast, and therefore their nose is always blunt, but with one or two sharp corners, for reliability on which you can draw a ragged or worn bast.
Step 9
Determine the light source in your drawing and sketch the chiaroscuro according to it. Draw a shadow on the plane. The sketch is ready.
