When people watch horror films, especially really scary ones, they immediately think that this is a fiction, a figment of the imagination of screenwriters and directors. However, there are many horror films that are based on real events, making watching them especially exciting.
The Conjuring (2013), US
According to the creators, this film is based on the true story of the Perron family, which moved into an ominous house. Here, many years ago, a ritual murder of a child by an insane mother was committed. From the very first day of the Perron family's arrival in their new home, inexplicable, from the point of view of logic, events began to take place in the house. However, this did not stop the Perron family from living in this cursed house for more than 10 years. The film turned out to be really very scary, and when you imagine that some of the episodes of this horror film correspond to reality, it becomes even creepy.
The Girl Opposite (2007), US
This film is not recommended for people with an unstable psyche. In this movie, there are a lot of scenes of truly inhuman cruelty. The plot is based on the real story of Sylvia Mary Likens, who was killed at the age of 16 after prolonged brutal torture. The girl's parents left her in the care of Gertrude Baniszewski, who for a small fee undertook to look after the teenager. Sylvia was subjected to systematic cruel torture by Gertrude and her children. After watching the film, it leaves a depressing impression, it is difficult to imagine what kind of torment the poor girl went through before her death.
The Ghost of the Red River (2005), USA, Canada, UK, Romania
This film shows the true story of the Bell family, which took place in the USA, Tennessee in the 19th century. A terrible curse fell upon the members of a respectable family. A spirit began to appear to them, which brought to death one of the members of the Bell family. More than 30 books have been written about these paranormal events. The film "The Ghost of the Red River" turned out to be exciting, there are some really scary episodes.
Based on the same story, another film was made - "The Ghost in the Bell Family" (2004), which also describes some of the creepy episodes from the life of this unusual family.
Night Heaven (2007), US
The events on which the plot of the picture is based took place in March 1997 in the desert of Arizona. According to the descriptions of many hundreds of eyewitnesses of this inexplicable phenomenon, a whole series of strange optical phenomena took place in the sky. Incomprehensible lights were visible everywhere within a radius of about 500 km - from the border of the state of Nevada, through Phoenix and to Tucson. The US Air Force tried to find a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon, however, most experts rejected their theory of the formation of an incomprehensible glow in the sky. This film does not particularly stand out from the many low-budget UFO films. Its only difference is that it was filmed based on real events.
The Exorcist (1973), US
Despite the fact that this film was filmed a very long time ago, it is by right constantly included in the rating of the most terrible films in the entire history of world cinema. The plot is based on the real story of a boy known under the pseudonym Roland Doe. A rite of exorcism (expulsion of the demon) was performed over him, which became known to the general public. Writer William Peter Blatty became very interested in this story, which later became the basis of his book. The Exorcist was the first horror film to be nominated for a prestigious Oscar. He received as many as ten nominations.
Six Demons Emily Rose (2005), USA
The film is based on the true story of Annelise Michel, who died during an exorcism. The priest who carried out the exorcism of the demon from the girl's body was charged with murder, although the whole process was carried out with the approval of the church.
In this film, the opposition between medicine and religious doctrine is shown very realistically. The movie turned out to be very informative and after watching the viewer there is something to think about.
