The film turned out to be really very scary, and when you imagine that some of the episodes of this horror film correspond to reality, it becomes even creepy.

The plot is based on the real story of a boy known under the pseudonym Roland Doe. A rite of exorcism (expulsion of the demon) was performed over him, which became known to the general public. Writer William Peter Blatty became very interested in this story, which later became the basis of his book. The Exorcist was the first horror film to be nominated for a prestigious Oscar. He received as many as ten nominations.
