In the list of the 50 highest-grossing cartoons in the world, "Madagascar-3: Most Dangerous in Europe" as of June 2012 took 36th place, moving up such well-known animation hits as "Toy Story", "Megamind" and "Lesnaya lads".
The full-length cartoon "Madagascar-3: Particularly Dangerous in Europe", which became a logical continuation of "Madagascar" and "Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa", was released on Russian screens on June 7, a day earlier than in the United States, and in three formats at once: 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D. The story of the four animals, familiar to the audience from the first two parts of the trilogy, was greeted with a bang not only by children, but also by their parents. This is evidenced by the general collection of the animated film: in less than a month, DreamWorks Animation raised $ 365,974,000, hitting, along with another animation novelty, the fantastic comedy Lorax, in the top 50 highest-grossing cartoons in the world.
The action in the third "Madagascar", as the full name suggests, takes place in Europe. Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and the hippopotamus Gloria, after fun, albeit tiring adventures in Africa, end up in Monte Carlo, trying to return home to the New York zoo. They fail to win enough money for a ticket to America, but they manage to attract the unwanted attention of the cartoon's main villain, the captain of the veterinary control service Chantelle Dubois. The insidious Frenchwoman collects the heads of killed animals and dreams of replenishing her exposition with a stuffed lion.
Escaping from the hunter, the heroes find themselves in a traveling circus, where they meet the Russian tiger Vitaly, the Italian sea lion Stefano, triplet horses and other artists. Alex falls in love with Jia, a female jaguar, and she loves him back. And, when Chantelle Dubois nevertheless cunningly catches Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman, circus performers together with the king of lemurs Julian and four fighting penguins rush to the rescue, organizing the Afro in the circus rescue expedition.
In the end, everything ends well, as it should be in cartoons. However, the creators still leave the ending open enough so that, in case of a successful release, return to this story and start filming the fourth Madagascar. Judging by the results of the rental in June, the adventures of the lion, zebra, hippo and giraffe are not over yet.
