Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your fabric. To do this, it should be washed and dried to remove excess substances. Both cotton and silk fabrics can be used for batik, but silk is more difficult to process. It is advisable to use old white sheets or other unnecessary materials as a draft - these are best for training. In advance, it is necessary to prepare a sketch of the drawing on paper, which will be transferred to the fabric using a wax pencil.
Step 2
Heat a pot of water with a paraffin pot on a low heat. When the wax is hot, you need to check if it passes through the fabric well. If it appears on its back, it means that it has absorbed enough. It does not need to be applied over the entire surface, leaving areas for staining.
Step 3
Place the cloth in the refrigerator to cool quickly. Break the fabric set with paraffin in several places to create special cracks.
Step 4
Prepare your paints. For this you need gloves. It is best to keep them slightly cool to keep the applied wax from melting. It is advisable to apply the first color in 20 seconds; for a more saturated color, it is necessary to re-paint and rinse the brush with water.
Step 5
Dry the work to preserve the color, and then cover the treated area with hot wax. It is necessary to wait for it to solidify and make cracks again. Only after that you can move on to the next color and so on until the entire drawing is completely colored.
Step 6
Remove wax after finishing work. This is done with an iron. To do this, the fabric is placed between sheets of paper (maybe a regular newspaper) and ironed until all the wax has been removed. remember to change the soaked paper as needed. An easier way to get rid of the wax is by scraping.
