Traditionally, batik is performed on silk. This fabric is very delicate and requires delicacy and accuracy in the design of the work, if it is not a piece of clothing, but a picture. The plot and size of batik also play an important role in choosing a frame for a painting.
It is necessary
- - frame with a stretcher;
- - buttons;
- - white canvas;
- - batik.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the design option that suits you in size - the small batik is first fixed on the cardboard, and the large one with a stretcher is inserted into the frame. Smooth the small batik so that the fabric does not wrinkle. Using thin threads, carefully attach your artwork to thick cardboard, pulling it tight. Choose a frame that matches the color of the batik. Choose the shape of the frame based on the plot - an elaborate baguette with rich and heavy carvings will not fit a light painting with a simple primitive pattern. Insert batik into a frame with a backdrop. To use or not to use glass in the design of the picture is a matter of your taste.
Step 2
The large silk design must be secured to a stretcher. First, it is better to stretch a white canvas on the stretcher so as not to damage the delicate batik fabric on the edges. Smooth the silk thoroughly, pick up buttons with a sharp tip and a round thin stud. When attaching the batik to the stretcher, stick the buttons to the side. The fabric pattern can be attached to the stretcher in two ways. Before you start securing the batik itself, you can practice on a clean piece of silk and decide on the method of fastening that you find more suitable for you. Do the same with the buttons - try sticking different types of these stationery into the silk by attaching it to a stretcher. Choose products that do not tear the fibers, but move them apart.
Step 3
In the first method, secure the upper corners of the batik first. Now that the corners are firmly seated on the stretcher, lock in the entire top edge of the painting. Then attach the bottom corners of the fabric, making sure the tension is even. The wave of silk along the diagonal of the painting that you get after securing the first bottom corner should disappear after securing the last corner of the batik. Now fix the entire bottom edge completely. The sides are pulled alternately, equalizing the tension of the fabric.
Step 4
In the second method of attaching batik to a stretcher, the middle points of the canvas are fixed. Attach the middle of one side of the painting, then fix the point opposite to it. Then fix the middle on the other slats of the stretcher. Listen to the masters in the baguette workshops - they will advise which frame for your work is best to buy in order to decorate batik with dignity and style without disturbing its composition and inner harmony. You, in turn, think about how the baguette will fit into your interior, whether it will not stand out from the general style of the room.
