The paint on batik can be fixed in two ways: iron and steam. The choice of one or the other depends on the dye used. This is usually indicated on the packaging, but you can also consult with the seller.

It is necessary

  • - iron;
  • - newspapers;
  • - a sheet of white paper;
  • - a large saucepan;
  • - water.

Instructions

Step 1

If you painted the fabric using the hot batik technique, remove the wax from the product before fixing the dye. First you need to remove all the wax mechanically, that is, shake it off, scrape off and chip off. Lay the newspaper in several layers on a flat surface. Place a cloth on top of it. Place another newspaper on top of the product.

Step 2

Iron the newspaper, the wax from the fabric should transfer to it. Change the sheets several times until the wax shows through. The dye can now be attached to the fabric.

Step 3

If you used paint that can be fixed with an iron, then it is enough to iron the product after the dye is completely dry.

Step 4

To set the paint with steam, after you finish painting the fabric, take a sheet of paper a few centimeters larger than the product. Lay out the painted fabric on paper. Roll it up. Try not to wrinkle. Then roll up the roll "snail". Tie up with thread.

Step 5

Choose a saucepan (or other container) of such a size that the "snail" can fit in the upper part without touching its lid and walls. Tie the bundle to the edges of the pot with a string.

Step 6

Pour water into the container. Do it carefully, along the wall. The amount of water should be such that no drops of water fall on the product during boiling, otherwise stains and streaks will appear on it.

Step 7

Cover with a blanket or blanket that will absorb condensation, then cover everything with a lid and put on fire. Steam the painted fabric for one and a half to two hours. Remove from heat and let the water cool. Remove the wrapped cloth. Remove the paper. Rinse the product in warm water and then in cold water. Dry and iron with an iron.

Step 8

If you set the dyes to the fabric in this way, the fabric can be washed. At the first rinse, the water will stain, this will wash off the unabsorbed paint.
