If you have jeans that suit in all respects, but have one drawback - ugly scuffs or even not at all attractive holes, do not rush to send them to the trash can.
You can show your design talent and bring your favorite thing back to life. As a patch material for jeans, it is advisable to use the same fabric as on jeans. It can be cut out under the back pockets, and since it is still not visible in this place, the cut part can be replaced with another fabric. Secondly, if you have once trimmed, sutured or shortened jeans and after that there are small pieces left, they are just fine.
To get the fabric, first the section is cleaved with pins and the flap is cut along the contour of the pocket from the inside with scissors. A pattern is made from the cut out piece from another fabric, do not forget to take into account the sewing allowances. A new flap is sewn to the wrong side with an inconspicuous thread to match along the contour of the pocket or, conversely, with a bright decorative stitching style. You can sew in the direction of the denim thread. Darning looks stylish with short stitches back and forth.
If the edge of the patch stands out on the common canvas, it can be painted over with a special fabric paint. After wearing and re-washing the jeans, the patch will become almost invisible.
There is another good option to hide scuffs - a patch on the cobweb. You will need a piece of denim, preferably of the same color, texture and the so-called cobweb - it is sold in fabric stores, in the "accessories" section. Instead of a spider web, you can also use lace.
The spider web is applied from the inside out so that its size is large enough and the edges fit well into the fabric, thereby ensuring a good grip. From above, the cobweb is covered with a patch flap and smoothed with a heated iron.
First check that the direction of the lines on the patch matches the jeans fabric. You can lay the threads on the front side to match. If you wish, you can leave the white ragged edges as a pretty decor.
In addition to holes, there is another nuisance - if the trousers are a little longer than they should be, or, suppose you wore them under heels, and then decided to wear them in combination with gym shoes, the edges of the trousers will very quickly wear off when walking and get loose. Putting these jeans in order and giving them a neat look is not so difficult. In this case, strengthening the frayed edges will help you.
The edge, which is tousled, is ripped off and smoothed with a heated iron in steam mode. A special fabric is glued from the inside to the edge for strengthening. Transverse machine stitches are laid along the edge, then seams are made in the longitudinal and diagonal directions. The updated edge is folded up and secured with a decorative seam.
As you can see, you don't have to throw out your worn jeans or rush to the atelier with them. By performing simple clothing repairs, you can save a lot of money. In addition, the updated jeans have personality, they look stylish and much more interesting. Often, even new models are decorated with similar elements.
