Released more than ten years ago, the third part of Warcraft turned out to be the last strategy in the cult setting, and therefore it still remains relevant. Many patches and improvements were released to the game, but they played a cruel joke with gamers - some versions of the game turned out to be incompatible with each other or with fan content.

Step 1
Find out the version of the game in the lower right corner of the title screen. A game installed from a CD can have any version, depending on the time it was published. On steam 1.26 is distributed, the most recent official patch.
Step 2
Determine the nature of the patch you need. If an earlier version is required, then a special installer is needed to "roll back the update". You can "upgrade" the version in different ways: some patches are suitable only for certain amendments (patch for changing version 1.21-1.26a), others are universal (changes any version of the game to 1.26). The latter, of course, have a large volume. In addition, localization plays a role (a patch for the Russian or English version). Of course, consider the version of the game - with or without the Frozen Throne add-on.
Step 3
Find the game in the build you need. Considering the speed of the modern Internet and the relatively small volume of the game (about a gigabyte), it sometimes turns out to be easier to find distribution on torrent trackers with the necessary patch preinstalled. This approach eliminates the possibility of error during installation and guarantees the product's performance. This is especially true if you need to "rollback", tk. this feature is not officially provided by the developers.
Step 4
The latest patches can be found on the battle.net official site. To do this, follow the link below. On the page that opens, you will see patch 1.26a. From the two columns (Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne), select the complete set of the game, and from the two lines (Full Patch and Incremental) the required patch type is a full upgrade or from 1.25 to 1.26a.
Step 5
Search fan forums. The developers do not support any other changes, and they can only be made with the help of amateur programs. Formulate the question clearly, according to the second point, and ask it in any community. Surely they will help you find the update you need.
