A T-shirt is considered a practical item for every day. By adding embroidery to it, you can make not only an original and unique piece of clothing, but also transfer it from an everyday to a festive one. Such a finish will also help to revive a slightly damaged item by masking a speck or small hole.

It is necessary

  • - plain T-shirt;
  • - threads;
  • - needles for embroidery;
  • - pencil, fabric marker or crayon;
  • - sealant;
  • - water-soluble or overhead canvas;
  • - copy paper;
  • - the original image;
  • - fittings for additional finishing.

Instructions

Step 1

Purchase a plain T-shirt for embroidery. Check if it sheds. To do this, it is not necessary to wash the entire T-shirt, just soak a small piece of fabric in soapy water (it is better to take the one that comes with the item). Place it on a white fabric. If there are no traces left, feel free to use this T-shirt as a basis for embroidery.

Step 2

Iron the garment with a hot iron from the seamy side and the front side. Determine where you want to place the embroidery. Most often use the upper right or left corner in front. But your embroidery can be positioned where necessary (center, bottom, sleeve, etc.).

Step 3

Select the image you want to decorate the T-shirt with. Various cartoon characters are suitable for a small child; older children will be happy to wear a T-shirt with the name of their favorite computer game or a funny phrase. Embroidered sayings and aphorisms are also suitable for adults. You can also see images of security ornaments.

Step 4

Determine the sewing method. Both cross stitch and satin stitch will look good on a T-shirt. You can add various accessories (stones, rhinestones, etc.) to give your work originality. This will especially appeal to young children (for example, if an embroidered unicorn has rhinestone eyes).

Step 5

Attach carbon paper to the T-shirt. Put a picture with the original image on it. Carefully trace the contours of the shape, the necessary background elements. If you decide to embroider using the "cross" technique, transfer the picture to a special canvas.

Step 6

On the seamy side of the T-shirt, in the place where the picture is located, glue a special seal. It is sold in sewing stores, glued to the fabric using a hot iron and damp gauze. A gasket is needed so that the image does not turn out to be overstretched and looks even on the T-shirt.

Step 7

Baste the canvas where you want it. To do this, use a thin needle to avoid holes in the fabric. Sew with the required number of threads. When the work is completed, carefully disassemble the overhead canvas, pulling it out one string at a time. Remove water-soluble canvas according to the instructions.
