But a real stained glass window, made according to old technology, is very expensive, not everyone can afford to buy such a thing. But if you have skillful hands and have free time, you can try to make a stained glass window yourself.

Step 1
Colored glass wins great when light passes through it. That is why stained-glass windows decorate windows, doorways, screens, lamps. Light sources are installed behind the stained-glass paintings.

A real classic stained glass window is made from pieces of colored glass, framed in a special lead frame of the U-shape. These elements are soldered to the rest of the stained glass mosaic. Craftsmen have a large selection of glass of all kinds of shades and are able to connect the parts so neatly that the soldering seam is completely invisible.

It is much easier to make a stained glass imitation. Start by choosing a pattern that is attractive to you. Take the simplest ornament to understand and master the process of work itself. Transfer the selected pattern to paper in the form of a full-size template. Clearly mark the boundaries between the elements of the pattern.
Step 4
Choose a place to install the stained glass. You need to determine if the product will be double-sided or single-sided. In doors, verandas, low windows, screens, stained glass is made on both sides. For a high window and a niche with illumination, a one-sided one is suitable.
Step 5
Imitation of a stained-glass window, and this is practically all modern products, is made from a single piece of glass with its subsequent coloring. The contours of the elements can be made with wood. This frame is tinted in the color of the window or door block. Make the outlines from thin wooden slats or twigs. Just glue the finished frame to the glass.
Step 6
A metal wire outline will give your garment a more authentic look. Find lead-tin solder at a hardware store. It looks like a wire several millimeters thick. Roll it on rollers in a strip, from it bend the contours of the details of the stained glass pattern. Attach these frames to the glass with cyanoacrylate glue. These contours form a pattern on both sides of the glass.
Step 7
The easiest way is to make a pattern frame from very thick varnish (NC). Add aluminum or bronze powder to this product. Pour the mass into a large syringe and, squeezing out the mass, draw the outline of the drawing. When the varnish is almost solid, flatten it down a bit for authenticity. This stained glass production technology is very convenient for corrugated or curved glass.
Step 8
When the outline of the ornament is ready, prepare the paint to fill the elements. This remedy can also be made at home. Here are some options for stained glass paint: furniture varnish, thinner, and art oil paint; nitro varnish, thinner and paste from a fountain pen; alkyd or nitro lacquer and tinting paste; BF-2 glue, acetone, alcohol-soluble paint; gelatin and aniline fabric dye.
