In the arsenal of every housewife there is always a convenient kitchen spatula, without which the cooking process becomes far from so convenient. You can make a wooden kitchen spatula yourself using the woodcarving technique, and such a product will delight you with its uniqueness for many years.
It is necessary
- - tablet,
- - plane,
- - cardboard,
- - tracing paper,
- - scissors,
- - jigsaw,
- - hacksaw,
- - chisel.
Instructions
Step 1
Pick up a flat plank without cracks, knots and defects, 250x60 mm in size and 8 mm thick. Use a planer to trim the board, leveling its surface. Cut out the contour of the future blade from the cardboard and glue a sheet of tracing paper cut along the contour with scissors on it.
Step 2
Place the template on the board, fix and trace along the contour with a soft pencil. Using a hand or electric jigsaw, carefully saw out the plank according to the outline. If you do not have a jigsaw, you will have to cut the product with a hand hacksaw.
Step 3
Step back two millimeters from the contour of the blade and draw the cutting lines with a pencil. Secure the plank with a clamp to the edge of the table and carefully repeat the sawing lines with a hand saw. After that, put the workpiece on the table, placing plywood or a board under it, and start processing the workpiece around the perimeter with a chisel, cutting off excess wood and processing the edges.
Step 4
Cut off sharp corners on the tip of the blade to create a streamlined surface. With fine emery paper, sand the entire surface of the blade well, and also process the side edges, trying to make them semicircular and smooth.
Step 5
The spatula is almost ready - now you can make a hole in its handle so that it can be hung on a hook in the kitchen, and you can also mark patterns on the spatula and cut them with special wood cutters. A wooden spatula with handcrafted decorative carvings will be a real decoration for your kitchen and you will be proud of it for years.
