Guitar string lifting is probably the most exciting experience for aspiring musicians. Not surprising: despite the simplicity of the process, there is a risk of irrevocably damaging the tool. But with the reasonable execution of instructions, this risk comes to naught.
Instructions
Step 1
Check if the tool needs a correction. There are two completely opposite options: pulling the strings up and pulling up the neck. The strings should be lifted if they touch the metal saddles and make a rattling sound when playing with a "strike". Otherwise, the neck may be lowered too much, and then you will have to make significant efforts to clamp the chords while playing. It is quite difficult to determine the optimal position, so it is selected individually by each guitarist: someone plays louder, which makes the nut touch more often, while someone, on the contrary, plays calmly, therefore, the proximity of the strings to the neck does not bother him.
Step 2
Find the hex key hole on the guitar. You can find it at the base or at the end of the fretboard - in different places on different instruments. An appropriately sized key should be included with the tool upon purchase, but the dimensions are still generally standard - and any other suitable specimen can be used.
Step 3
Clear the hole and insert the key. It is possible that the regulator is located inside the body - in this case, you will need to loosen a few strings to get to it.
Step 4
Determine which way you need to turn the key. The direction of rotation is always individual, it can only be noted that raising the neck requires quite a lot of effort (twisting), while lifting the strings is very easy (spinning). Try rotating in both directions and check the result. Do not overdo it - too much bending can crack the neck.
Step 5
Tune your guitar. Of course, due to the change in neck placement, the strings will have to be re-tuned to each other. Please note that the change in tone will be different everywhere: the first and sixth strings will be minimally broken, while the third and fourth will significantly change their sound.
