Playing a cheap or too old guitar can poison the life of not only a beginner, but also an experienced guitarist. Sometimes, just a few turns of the screwdriver is enough to get rid of string chatter and make playing the instrument easier.

Step 1
Check if your guitar has a neck deflection adjuster (truss nut). It is usually found either on the headstock or at the base of the neck inside the guitar body. An anchor is a metal rod that runs along the neck of a guitar and allows you to adjust its tension.
Step 2
You need to determine the neck deflection of your guitar. If the truss rod is too loose, the neck has too much deflection, making it difficult to grip the strings at some frets. If the truss rod is overtightened, the strings are too close to the frets, clinging to them and rattling.
Step 3
Remove the strings before starting the fretboard tuning process. Place the guitar on your lap in a playing position. Take a long metal strip or ruler and place it in the center of the neck along its entire length. Check the distance between the ruler and the first fret. If it is more than 0.2 mm, then it will be necessary to loosen the anchor. If more than 0.5 mm, tighten the anchor. These numbers may vary slightly, depending on the thickness of the strings and your preference.
Step 4
Take a screwdriver and loosen or tighten the nut that controls the tension of the anchor. Pulling the nut will bend the bar upward, while loosening it will bend the bar downward. Proceed very carefully, no more? turning at a time. Check your neck angle every time so you don't miss the perfect position.
Step 5
Compare the distance from the ruler to the bar again on several frets. If the distance does not differ much, then let the guitar lie down for a while and then check again.
Step 6
Once you're satisfied with the sound, put the strings on and enjoy the new sound and playability of your old instrument.
