Today, the modern batik industry produces a wide variety of paints and products, but mainly water-based acrylic paints are used for painting. They mix very well and create beautiful shades and overflows, and they easily fall on the fabric. Special reserves do not allow the paints to blur shapelessly, so the drawing is easy to apply.

Painting with acrylic paints does not tolerate haste and fuss. At the beginning of work, carefully read the instructions, observe all the intervals when applying various layers, then dry the product thoroughly and carefully fix the paints. Then your creation can be erased, and it will delight you with its beauty for a very long time. To prevent acrylic paints from disappearing after washing the product, the drawing must be fixed, subjected to heat treatment. First, dry the finished product thoroughly (this may take up to 10 days). Secure the paints. To do this, iron the product from the inside out with an iron or use a thin cloth when ironing. Set the iron regulator to wool or hot mode. Iron the garment thoroughly for two minutes, moving the iron continuously. Do not hold the iron in one place to avoid damaging the fabric with excessive heat. The ironing process, heating the paints with an iron, helps the pigments and acrylic binders to bond with the fabric fibers.
Step 3
Some craftswomen place the finished product for heating in an oven, double boiler or microwave to secure the pattern. If you will be setting the pattern in the oven, place the fabric on a clean baking sheet. Preheat the oven to 140 degrees and hold your product in it for 10-15 minutes. If you used very fine silk, cover it with baking paper.
Step 4
You can also fix the paints on a steam bath. Fabric treated in this way will not shed during washing. After fixing the paints, you can already use the product for its intended purpose, but you should not wash it immediately. The more time elapses before washing, the better the paint will hold. If your batik will be used as a panel, just use a water-based acrylic varnish to fix it.
