There are many different ways to decorate your home or garden area, and one of the most spectacular and unusual is a colored mosaic that can bring even the most boring plain surface to life. You can decorate a flower pot, wall, balcony, garden fence, and more. Laying out a mosaic pattern is a laborious and long-term business, but the result deserves such an effort - an original mosaic will delight you, your family, as well as all the guests who will come to your home. We will tell you how to lay out a mosaic pattern in this article.
Instructions
Step 1
To begin with, come up with a pattern or drawing of the future mosaic, and in accordance with the conceived idea, purchase ceramic tiles of the desired colors. Chop the tiles into small pieces. You can also use old split utensils, pieces of glass, and other items that are suitable for mosaic materials.
Step 2
Prepare the surface for laying - carefully level it and clean it from dirt and dust. Dissolve a small amount of strong tile adhesive in a separate container. When the glue in the container runs out, dilute a little more - the glue dries quickly, so it makes no sense to dissolve the whole package at once.
Step 3
Apply some glue to the wall with a brush or putty knife. While the glue has not dried, begin to lay out the conceived pattern from the multi-colored pieces of tile on this fragment of the wall. After filling the piece with the mosaic, again apply the glue to the wall next to the already laid mosaic, and continue to lay out the pattern.
Step 4
Wait for the glue to dry completely within 24 hours, and then treat the already laid pattern with a tile grout. Dilute it with water and apply with a spatula to the surface of the mosaic, filling in the gaps between the fragments.
Step 5
Wait half an hour for the grout to dry, and use a damp sponge to thoroughly remove the dirt from the mosaic.
Step 6
Wait a few more hours, and after the grout has completely dried, wash the mosaic surface again, returning it to its original color.
