If you have chosen a particular day for shooting a sunset, then find out in advance the time at which it will occur. Try to arrive at the filming location 10-15 minutes early to assess the location, find angles, and adjust the camera.

If you go to shoot a sunset with a landscape, then use a lens with a short focus, about 10-20 mm. But if your goal is close-up of the sun, then you can take lenses with a focus up to 200mm. The color of the sunset is brightest and most intense when the sun almost touches the horizon. Another interesting time for shooting is when the sun has already set for 10-12 minutes. Then you should shoot with a long exposure on a tripod, you will get a landscape shot in pink-purple and blue tones.

When shooting a sunset, do not forget about the light of the setting sun. Perhaps, while you are looking at the sun, mountains, trees or rocks around you are illuminated by the oblique rays of the sun, and you do not even notice it.
