Seals are cute mammals that live in the waters of the seas and oceans of both hemispheres, as well as in some inland water bodies, for example, in Lake Baikal. They have a streamlined, spindle-like body, a small head that blends smoothly into the neck. There is not a single organ on the body of a seal that would prevent the animal from swimming - even the auricles are missing. The front flippers, like oars, allow the animal to move quickly under water, and the rear flippers, a kind of steering wheel, better coordinate their movement. All these features must be taken into account if you are going to make a drawing of a seal.

It is necessary

  • To draw a seal, you will need:
  • - paper;
  • - pencil;
  • - eraser;
  • - watercolor paints.

Instructions

Step 1

You need to start drawing a seal with a small schematic sketch. The large body of the animal and its small head should be depicted as two ovals - large and small. Then outline future flippers with smooth lines. Mark out the seal's face, it should be slightly elongated, with large round eyes and a dog-like nose. Don't forget that seals also have rather long whiskers. Draw the flippers. All lines must be smooth. Now erase the construction lines and paint the details carefully.

Step 2

If you are going to color the seal, use dark gray tones. On the back of the animal, the paint will be darker, on the belly - lighter. Do not forget to add a highlight when you paint the eye - this will make it look more voluminous and realistic.

Step 3

You can draw a seal in an easier way. Draw a large drop horizontally - the body of the mammal. Then add the front and back flippers and draw the muzzle. Erase the extra strokes and shade the shape of the seal by pressing lightly on the pencil. Press a little less on the pencil to move from a darker to a lighter area.

Step 4

If you want to portray a baby seal, then you need to know and take into account some more details. Newborn seals, or, as they are called, white seals, are born covered with thick white long fur, which lasts for 3 weeks. The body shape of a baby seal can be drawn the same as that of an adult seal, but then you will need to draw the fur with subtle strokes. You can paint the picture with watercolors, very strongly, diluting blue or black paint almost to an off-white color.
