Stoles first entered European fashion in the mid-seventeenth century. At first, rectangular fur capes were called so. Then graceful silk and woolen stoles appeared, capable of warming on a cool evening and decorating even the most strict suit. The stole can be crocheted or knitted.

It is necessary

  • - 400 g of thick fluffy wool;
  • - knitting needles for the thickness of the yarn;
  • - hook.

Instructions

Step 1

For a stole, choose a knit that looks equally good on both sides. This can be, for example, one of the options for an openwork mesh. It has a front and a seamy side, but both look elegant. Try to keep the yarn new and the yarn in the ball long enough. Even if you know how to attach a new thread without knots, it is desirable that there are as few transitions from one ball to another as possible.

Step 2

Determine the width of the stole. Tie a garter stitch and a basic pattern. In this case, the calculations may not be very accurate, since the stole pounces on the shoulders and a few extra centimeters do not play a role.

Step 3

Cast on the desired number of loops. Knit the first row. Flip the work over and determine where you will make the holes for the brushes. The first and last tassels will be at the beginning and end of the row. Divide the remaining loops into equal segments and mark the places of the holes with knots of a different color. Knit to the first knot, yarn over, then knit 2 stitches together. Make the rest of the holes in the same way. Work 4-6 more rows in garter stitch.

Step 4

Go to the main pattern. On the long sides of the stole, knit strips with garter stitch, that is, start and end each row with the same number of front loops. The width of the stripes should be approximately equal to the width of the border on the short side. Knit the main figure according to the scheme:

1 row - * 1 yarn, 2 together front, 5 front *.

2 and all even ones with purl loops;

3 row - * 1 front, 1 yarn, 2 together front, 4 front *.

5 row - * 2 front, 1 yarn, 2 together front, 3 front *;

7 row - * 3 facial. 1 yarn, 2 together front, 2 front *;

9 row - * 4 front, 1 yarn, 2 together front, 1 front *;

11 row - 5 knit, 1 yarn, 2 knit together *.

Repeat the pattern from row 13.

Step 5

Tie the stole to the desired length. Finish with a strip of garter stitch. In the last row, make holes for the brushes. Try to get them to be in front of those in the front row. You can in the same way divide the total number of loops into equal parts and mark the places for the holes with a thread of a different color. Tie the holes with yarns and stitches tied together. In this case, it is better to close the loops by pulling the next loop into the previous one.

Step 6

Make brushes. Fold the thread into a bundle about 16-20 cm long. Tie the bundle in the middle with a thread 10-12 cm long and fold it in half. Tie it again at a distance of about 1.5 cm from the fold. Cut the free ends straight. Do the rest of the brushes in the same way. Thread the long threads that tied the folds through the holes and secure. Hide the ends between the threads of the stole.
