To knit a hat, you need only 2 measurements - the volume of the head and the height of the product. The latter is measured as follows: put the beginning of the centimeter on the crown of the head, lower it to the forehead, direct it towards the eyebrows. Stop there, wherever there is a hat. In order for the hat to fit well, not to slip, there is no need to leave seam allowances. Transfer your measurements to a paper base such as a newspaper.
If you want to knit a hat with a lapel, then add to the height of the product and the size of the lapel. Cut out a rectangle according to measurements. The pattern is ready. Now you need to decide on the pattern. For beginners, it is better to choose a simple and beautiful option. One of them is garter stitch. You will need to find out how only one loop is knitted - the front one. The right needle is inserted behind the front wall of the loop, picks up the thread of the ball and pulls it through this hole. You can knit the entire hat, including the lapel, with a garter stitch.
How to tie a swatch and a cap
To find out how many loops to cast, knit a 12-piece pattern. After you have finished 7 cm of canvas, measure its width. For example, it is equal to 8 cm. Divide this figure into 10 loops (the 2 extreme ones in the sample do not count) and multiply by 100. You got how many loops are in 1 cm. Multiply this figure by the volume of the head, add 2 loops (outermost) and cast as many loops on two folded knitting needles. Next, knit a lapel with either one front (garter stitch) or alternating 2 purl with two front ("elastic" pattern). After you create 5-7 cm of the canvas, knit further with the front or the selected pattern.
There are several ways to finish the cap. After you have knitted the entire fabric, close the loops. Sew the side seam, remembering to tighten the fabric. Gather the top with a thick thread, pull off. You can not close the loops, but collect them on the main thread with a needle and tighten the thread. You can evenly start to decrease the loops 5 cm before the end of knitting. To do this, divide them all into 6-8 parts, in each front row, knit two together in these places. To do this, turn the first of these two front ones so that its distant part is in front. Then the places of decrease will be performed neatly.
