Polymer clay, or plastic, appeared back in the 30s of the last century in Germany, but it found widespread among needlewomen only in the 70s. This wonderful material is used to make heads for dolls, beads and various small sculptures. Fruit figurines made of plastic look very realistic.
How to make an orange slice
It is very interesting to make orange slices from polymer clay. And to make them look like real, mix the material of white and orange shades, achieving the desired color. Please note that the clay will take on a brighter tone when baked. Divide the whole quantity into 10 equal pieces and roll them into sausages of the same diameter.
Roll out of white polymer clay with an ordinary rolling pin 10 layers about 2 mm thick. Wrap them over orange sausages. Cut off excess.
Crumple each piece along one of the sides, giving the shape of a drop on the cut. Fold them together in a cylinder, aligning the sides of the "droplet". In the resulting part, a hole is formed in the middle, which will need to be closed. Roll a sausage of the required diameter from white polymer clay and insert it into the hole. Press all elements to the middle.
Roll out 2 thin layers from white and orange clay. First wrap the workpiece in white, pinch the ends and smooth the seam. Then wrap everything in a layer of orange. Roll the cylinder slightly, flattening it. Cut it into thin slices, lay them on a flat surface and let dry.
Polymer clay orange slices can be used to create jewelry: earrings, rings and necklaces. You can also make a fridge magnet from them or use them in a composition with other fruits and berries made from this wonderful material.
How to make a whole orange
Beads are made of polymer clay, which can also be made in the shape of an orange. A kind of orange peel is quite simple to make using the salt technique. Prepare:
- orange polymer clay;
- coarse salt.
Cut a piece of polymer clay and knead it thoroughly in your hands. The material should become elastic and pliable. Roll up a ball of the required size.
Pour coarse salt in a saucer (it can be easily replaced with sugar). Roll an orange ball in it. If you need to end up with a bead, insert a wooden toothpick in the middle of the blank.
Place the ball on a baking sheet and place in the oven for about 10 minutes. Remove the workpiece from the oven and let cool. Remove the toothpick and thoroughly clean the surface from grains of salt, it can be wiped with a damp cloth or rinsed under running water. The orange bead is ready.
