One of the popular ideas used for the festive decoration of the home before Easter is the manufacture of an Easter wreath with figures of hares, which, according to Scandinavian mythology, bring Easter eggs and are symbols of the renewal and fertility of the Earth.
The Easter wreath is a traditional attribute of this spring holiday. With the help of a hand-made wreath, you can decorate not only entrance doors, but also window openings, balconies, garden trees, holiday tables. In addition, you can use the wreath as an unusual frame for colored eggs and Easter cake.
Classic easter wreath
Initially, three colors were used to make Easter wreaths: white, red and green, symbols of purity, life and hope. The frame for the wreath is flexible and strong branches of willow, birch or pussy willow. A ring is formed from the harvested branches, the edges of which are fixed with a thin decorative wire or floral tape.
After that, the wreath is wrapped with a satin ribbon, decorated with flowers, small green branches for floral arrangements and figures of Easter bunnies. Most often, bunnies are baked from gingerbread dough, then painted with food paints or covered with glaze.
If the Easter bunny figurine will serve only for decorative purposes, then it can be made from salted dough, known for its plasticity and ease of sculpting, and after baking in the oven, paint the figurine with bright gouache or acrylic paints. Bunnies are fixed on an Easter wreath with the help of wire, bright threads tied in the form of a bow, or hung on satin ribbons in the center of the composition - for this, before baking in the dough, holes must be made through which the ribbon will subsequently be threaded.
Easter wreath with fleece hares
A wreath looks very impressive, which combines materials that are opposite in texture: coarse burlap or twine as a frame and decorative elements made of delicate bright fleece.
To make the base of the Easter wreath, you will need a cardboard circle, which is coated with glue and tightly wrapped with packing twine or a piece of burlap. If it is necessary to give the wreath volume, then a layer of crumpled newsprint is applied to the cardboard base, fixed with tape or floral tape, after which a layer of burlap is added.
A simple silhouette of a bunny is drawn on paper, cut out and placed on a piece of fleece fabric folded in half. The details are carefully cut out, sewn on a typewriter and stuffed with cotton wool or padding polyester. The finished figurines are decorated with a narrow bright ribbon in the form of a bow around the neck, and fixed on both sides of the wreath, alternating with green leaves and flowers cut from fleece or felt.
The wreath can be decorated with one large Easter bunny figurine. For this, details are cut out of white felt: the body, paws, head, ears. Details are prepared from bright colorful fabric to decorate the belly and the inner side of the bunny ears.
Colored parts are sewn with a whipstitch to the corresponding fleece elements, all other parts are sewn on a typewriter or by hand and stuffed with padding polyester to give the figure volume. Small pieces of wire can be inserted into your ears to help keep them in shape.
All the details are sewn together, with the help of beads or embroidery with colored threads, they decorate the face of a hare and decorate the finished figurine with a bright bow. Such a hare will serve as the centerpiece of the Easter composition.
