Bright scarves with beautiful prints can be the basis for original stylish outfits. The idea to use scarves for sewing a dress was submitted by V. Zaitsev, who once created a collection of Pavlovo Posad shawls.
Dress from scarves without a pattern
There are many options for creating stylish outfits from scarves. A summer light airy sundress with an open back can be sewn from two silk scarves, spending 1-2 hours. Take two scarves measuring 140x140 cm - the length of the product depends on the size - fold them with the front sides inward, set the length of the skirt diagonally, draw an arc through this point, connecting two opposite corners and cut out. The upper corners will be the bodice, duplicate them with dense fabric.
Cut out the straps, drawstring and ribbon for it from the remains of the scarf. Glue the straps with adhesive interlining. Sew the scarves on two adjacent sides, the seams will go down the middle of the front and back. Sew the straps and sew them to the corners of the bodice. Place the overlapping details face-to-face to the front of the dress and sew along the open hem while attaching the straps. Turn the bodice inside out and iron it out. Sew the free bottom edge of the detail to the dress with basting stitches. Sew the drawstring on the seamy side, thread the tape through it. Sew the bottom of the dress after it hangs.
From two elegant shawls, you can sew a tunic dress with a boat neckline. Fold the scarves right side in, sew shoulder seams, leaving 20-25 cm for the neckline. Set hip-width apart on the fabric and sew the side seams along the right side at this distance. Tie up at the waist with a belt. A tunic made from Pavlovo Posad shawls can be worn in the cold season as well. Match her with ethnic-style jewelry.
Draped dress
Shawls are well draped, so they will make a chic dress with a swing-cut neckline. This model is a little more complicated, for its sewing it is necessary to make a pattern along the side. Take measurements - waist and hips, chest.
To build a back pattern, fold the scarf diagonally, cut out a cutout for the neckline in the upper corner, setting aside 7 cm, and a shoulder line. Back down from the shoulder line, step back 15-20 cm, this will be the armhole. On the midline, measure the points of the chest, waist and hips, draw perpendicular lines, set aside ¼ of the volume of the corresponding measurements on them. Add 5 cm to each measurement for freedom of fit.
Draw a side line and cut the fabric by adding 1.5-2 cm to the seams. The shelf is cut in the same way, the only change - to cut the neckline, cut the corner in a straight line, 15-20 cm wide. Cut the sections on an overlock, sew shoulder and side seams, cut the armhole and neckline with oblique inlays.
