The ability to accurately and beautifully apply dense darning to clothes has always been appreciated in the household. Timely minor repairs will help prolong the life of your favorite item.
It is necessary
- - a sock with a hole;
- - yarn to match the sock;
- - needle;
- - scissors;
- - darning egg (fungus).
Instructions
Step 1
Instead of a fungus (egg) for darning, you can use any solid, round object, such as a bottle, wooden egg, or a light bulb. Position the hole over the darning mushroom and cut off any loose yarn that is sticking out. Stretch the damaged material tightly over the fungus. Now take a long strand of yarn and thread it into the needle.
Step 2
Create a base for the patch. Stitch a square around the outside of the hole, threading the needle through the four eyelets away from the edge of the hole and continuing with the chain of stitches on all four sides to secure.
Step 3
Then begin to pull the horizontal yarn guide lines from side to side across the entire area of the hole from the top. Arrange the threads tightly in several rows, while pulling the edges slightly at the same time. The horizontal threads can start from 3 deep stitches from an intact toe.
Step 4
The end of the yarn should be in the lower right corner and continue to the upper right corner of the darning area. Therefore, pass the thread with the needle in a vertical direction through the taut horizontal rows up and duplicate the stitch over the existing (undamaged) buttonhole.
Step 5
Next, when you reach the hole, use the horizontal guide lines you created earlier. In the horizontal direction, pull the thread through the taut row and pass the needle and thread under the nearest vertical row, coming back, pass the needle through the last loop and bring it under the working thread.
Step 6
It should be noted that when moving from top to bottom, creating a loop, you need to take the needle under the next guide line. In this direction along the vertical column, walk with a stitch to the bottom of the square and make 3 stitches-loops in whole loops further from the edge of the hole.
Step 7
Then again draw the needle and thread through the guide lines to the top of the square. And starting from the top, sew a square stitch, working on the second column.
Step 8
In this sequence, scratch the entire surface of the damaged area on the toe. The result should be a very smooth, neat and beautiful darning.
Step 9
This method is similar to Swiss (V-shaped) darning with some modifications. The buttonholes in Swiss darning are sewn from the bottom of the hole and here from top to bottom using the (horizontal) yarn guides.
