Instructions
Step 1
Collect straw stalks from the field or meadow - wheat, rye, oat, or any other. Now you can make a straw appliqué canvas.
Step 2
We cut the straw from knot to knot (cuts are straight and at an angle). We tie the straws into bundles and store them in a cardboard box. We take straws as needed and prepare them for creative work.
Step 3
Soak the straw in hot water for at least 20-30 minutes (you can leave it overnight). We cut the stems to length with scissors or a clerical knife. Iron the straw ribbons with a hot iron, first from the inside, then from the outside. Or you can smooth the strips with scissor rings.
Step 4
We straighten the tapes between the pages of the old magazine. We paint some of the straws - iron them with an iron until they are golden or brown. We leave another part in the form of separate tapes (strips) and tubes. We make a straw cloth for application: we lay out straw ribbons on paper, carefully glue it, put it under a press.
