Step 3

Lay out the bottom of the hat from the finished ribbon. First, bending the tail of the catfish in the form of a small triangle, put the next row under the previous one, start sewing. The seam should be positioned so that the thread falls into the tip of the clove, then the product will look more prominent.

The size of the bottom depends on the girth of the head; for an adult, the diameter of the bottom is 18-20 cm, for a child - 14-18 cm.

Step 4

When the bottom is ready, go to the crown. To do this, it is necessary to smoothly bend the braid, slightly adjusting it at the break, but if you need a sharp transition, bend it at an angle of 90 °.

Every three to four turns, the sewn braid is rolled out with an ordinary rolling pin.

After making the bottom and crown, iron them with an iron and steam at the maximum temperature. Better to do this on a hat blank.

Step 5

Finishing the "cap", make sure that it turns out with a gradual expansion from the bottom to the brim and corresponds to the circumference of the head. When passing the laying out of the fields, sharply break the braid in half in width and, picking up the bottom row a little, lay out the next row of the field. Seam more frequently for greater bend strength. Iron the finished hat, sew on the decoration, let it dry.
