The name of light knitted socks-shoes for newborns - booties - appeared in the 19th century. These shoes were invented by the shoe maker Pine, thanks to whom they began to be called that way. In the beginning, booties were made of soft leather, but nowadays they are sewn from jersey or knit. Needlewomen came up with a huge number of models of these comfortable knitted products, including booties.
For knitting booties, choose a suitable acrylic yarn, it is ideal for knitting children's clothes, does not fade or shrink. The threads should be of medium thickness (100-150 m in a 50 g skein). One skein will be enough. You can also use leftover thread for finishing.
In addition to yarn, you will need:
- hook number 3, 5;
- scissors;
- a piece of cardboard;
- 4 flat buttons.
Knitting soles
Cast on a chain of 10 chain stitches and 3 lifting stitches and start knitting the first row. In the fourth loop from the hook, knit 1 double crochet, then 8 more double crochets in each loop and 7 columns in the first chain stitch. Knit, twist and tie the other side of the chain in the same way.
For the second row, knit 2 lifting chain stitches and 1 double crochet in the same loop. Make 1 increase with a half crochet, then knit 4 half columns in each loop, then 5 columns with a crochet, make 6 increases from the columns with a crochet, knit 5 more columns with a crochet in each loop of the previous row, then 4 half columns, make 4 increases from half columns with a crochet and knit 1 connecting post.
Knit the third and fourth rows in the same way, making increments at the beginning, middle and end of the row to form an oval. Tie another piece of the sole in the same way.
Cut out a template for the sole from the cardboard. Place it between the knitted pieces and tie them together with single crochets with contrasting yarn. Work 4 rows in a circle with single crochets, forming the sides of the booties.
Knitting sock booties
Starting from the 10th row, knit the toe of the bootie, making decreases. Knit 9 single crochets, make a decrease (6 columns, distributing them evenly on the toe of the booties), 13 single crochets, make a decrease 2 times, distributing them evenly on the heel, 6 single crochets
Knitting the bootlegs-boot
Beginning on the next 11th row, crochet forward and backward to create a boot closure bar. 11th row - incomplete front. Knit 7 single crochets, make 7 decreases, then knit 5 single crochets and twist.
In the 12th row, knit 1 air lift loop, then 5 single crochets, make a decrease, 2 single crochets, another decrease, knit 27 columns and turn knitting. In the 13th row, knit 1 air lift loop, 3 single crochets, make 22 extended loops, decrease, 2 single crochets, another decrease, 3 extended loops, knit 1 single crochet and turn knitting again. In the 14th row, knit all the loops with single crochets to the end of the row, without making any reductions. Repeat the 13th and 14th rows to the desired boot heights. Knit the left bootie in a mirror image.
Plank formation
Tie the edges of the booties with single crochet stitches to secure. In the first row of the plank, knit from the upper edge of the boot towards the sole, make the last column as a connecting one, hooking the thread on the other side of the fastener. Turn knit over.
In the second row, knit, forming the holes for the buttons, as follows. Knit 4 single crochets, 3 stitches skipping 2 sts of the previous row, then 4 more single crochets, 3 stitches (while skipping 2 sts of the previous row) and 3 more single crochets.
In the 3rd row, make 3 single crochets, 2 double crochets, then 4 more single crochets, 2 single crochets, and 4 single crochets. In the last 4th row of the plank, knit all the loops with single crochets and break off the thread. Tie a placket in the mirror image on the left boot. Sew 2 flat buttons onto the second side of the clasp.
