Making New Year's toys out of fabric is an incredibly fun and creative activity. If you want to decorate the Christmas tree with exclusive toys for the holiday, then be sure to try to make them yourself from silk, linen or satin.
To make a Christmas toy out of fabric, you will need:
- cardboard;
- fabric (preferably plain);
- pencil;
- a needle with threads in the color of the fabric;
- synthetic winterizer or cotton wool (for filling toys);
- satin ribbon about 15 cm long and five millimeters wide;
- beads, crystals, stones or beads (for decorating toys);
- glue.
The first step is to draw a template for a future toy, for example, a star, on cardboard. Cut out the shape, attach it to the fabric, circle (taking into account the seam allowances) and cut out. Cut another such detail in the same way. As a result, you should get two identical stars from the fabric.
Take a satin ribbon, fold it in half and stitch it with slices to one of the parts, attaching it to the seamy side.
Next, you need to put the details in the form of stars together face to face and carefully sew them along the edge with a hand stitch, retreating from the edge as much as the seam allowances are made. It is worth remembering that when sewing, you must leave a small hole for filling the toy in the future.
Unscrew the part, fill it with cotton wool or padding polyester to the required density, sew the hole through which the toy was filled with a secret stitch.
The final stage is the decor of the toy. Here you can fantasize and decorate it with stones, rhinestones or any other decorative elements, creating an unusual pattern from them. Linen fabric toys, on which flowers are embroidered with satin ribbons, look very interesting.
