Spathiphyllum is a fairly popular plant among many flower growers, and all because this flower is unpretentious in care and does not require any special conditions of maintenance. Lovers of indoor plants are not scared by the fact that "female happiness" (another name for spathiphyllum) often loses its attractive appearance due to blackening of leaves and flowers. And this is not surprising, because if the cause of this phenomenon is identified in time and eliminated, then the flower will recover in a short time.

Why do spathiphyllum leaf tips turn black

Most often, the main reason for the blackening of the tips of the leaves of a given flower is insufficient watering. When watering a plant, it is necessary to take into account the temperature and humidity of the air, which contain "female happiness". If the air temperature is above 22-23 degrees, and the humidity does not exceed 50%, then water the flower as the soil dries up and spray its leaves every three days. Give the plant a shallow cool shower in the summer.

If the spathiphyllum is watered in a timely manner, but its leaves began to darken and this is accompanied by a darkening of the root areas, then in this case, most likely, the reason is waterlogging of the soil. Often, novice flower growers overly care about their indoor flowers and water them more often than necessary. Together with keeping plants in a cool room, this leads to flooding, as a result of which the roots of the flowers rot. If you notice a root darkening of some of the stems, first of all treat the soil with fungicides, then place the spathiphyllum in a well-ventilated, light and warm room in which the air temperature is not lower than 20 degrees. Reduce the number of waterings two to three times.

If the first two reasons for the blackening of flower leaves are excluded, then in this case the main culprits are either a lack of nutrients or pests. In the first case, timely feeding of "women's happiness" with nitrogen-containing fertilizers will help to cope with the problem (you can use both preparations specially designed for this plant, and universal means). In spring and summer, fertilizers must be applied at least once every three weeks, and in autumn and winter - once a season. Most often, spathiphyllum is attacked by the following pests: scale insects, spider mites and aphids. Examine the plant carefully and if you see dark dots on it located on the lower part of the leaves, cobwebs on the stems, soil or dark bloom on the upper part of the leaves, then first of all wipe the entire flower with a sponge dipped in soapy water and leave it to dry completely … Then wipe the plant again, but with a clean, damp cloth, then spray it with an insecticide solution.
