A scissor case is a simple and useful craft. It is also quite affordable even for novice seamstresses.
What to sew a scissor case from?
For this craft, you need a thick fabric. I recommend to sew this cover from felt, denim, tapestry. But if you want to choose chintz, satin or other thin fabrics, then you will have to make a lining (for lining, you should take a denser fabric, at least a thick linen one).
We build a pattern for a simple case for scissors
The cover pattern looks like two isosceles triangles, the size of which will depend on the size of your scissors. Please note that it is better to draw the side of one triangle not as a straight line, but as part of a circle (arc) (see diagram below).
Calculate the size of the pattern as follows: segment AB = the width of the scissors handles + 3 cm, segment BC = the length of the scissors - 5 cm do you use this case? Resize the pattern as needed.
We sew a case for scissors
Attach the pattern to the fabric and cut out two triangles (one regular, isosceles ABC, the other also isosceles, but with an arc AB instead of a straight line). Do not forget about seam allowances. To reduce seams, cut out the cover with one piece with a fold (for example, the fold may be on the BC side).
If peeling occurs, sew tape or tape over the edge. Stitch along the AC side of the triangle.
if you want to decorate your scissor case with embroidery, beads, rhinestones, or in any other way, you must do this before sewing the side of the case.
