It is easier and faster to buy a pencil case in a store, but it is much more pleasant to sew it with your own hands, all the more so convenient.
Such a pencil case will be convenient not only for schoolchildren or students, it is also convenient to store cosmetic pencils and mascara in it.

1. Before drawing a pattern, determine the size of your future pencil case. To do this, think for what purpose you sew it - to store cosmetics, stationery, keys? Then measure the length of the longest ballpoint pen / pencil / key, etc.
2. Make a pattern. To do this, you can simply print the photo below, having previously scaled it to the size you need, and then cut out parts 1 and 2. Note that the pattern will make it possible to accurately determine the length of the zipper that you need (the length of the zipper should be at least equal to the cut in details 1).
if in the store you cannot find a zipper of a suitable size, buy a longer zipper, but always a plastic one, as it can be cut off. After trimming the zipper, be sure to pull off the open end with a few stitches.
3. Cut out parts 1 and 2 from felt. Cut out a spot for the zipper. The width of the cutout should be no more than the width of the working part of the zipper when closed.
4. Sew the zipper into the section of part 1.
5. Sew the top (1) and bottom (2) of the pencil case. Start work on the longest (side) sides, then join the end sides.
in order for the seams to turn out neat and the details do not move out relative to each other, before sewing, connect the parts of the pencil case with pins.
6. Decorate your pencil case to your liking. The simplest option is to buy a ready-made patch or applique, fasten a beautiful lace, a small pendant to the zipper.
By the way, this pencil case can be sewn not from felt. Use fabric that you have at home, for example, remnants of linen, chintz, satin, costume or coat fabric, tapestry, etc. However, if you choose a thin fabric, you will have to make a thick lining.
